In my little crafty clique, there is one magic word - one day a year that we all look forward to- it's like dying and going to craft heaven. It's proper name is the Upshur Street Arts & Crafts Fair, I suppose, but we mostly just know it as...
Thanks to Elsa of Little Peeps Emporium who made me go get the socks out of my car (parked two blocks away) 20 minutes before show time. I think every pair was picked up and snuggled on Saturday and two pairs found new homes.
Upshur was supposed to be outside on (duh) Upshur Street - no tents, live music & a great atmosphere. Unfortunately, this year we weren't so lucky with the weather so the fair moved indoors to three separate brick-and-mortars on the block that were kind enough to open their doors up to us - Domku Cafe, The Petworth Citizen and Willow Boutique. I was super lucky to be in Domku and though I'd never been there before, I had heard a lot about it and let me say - it totally lived up to the hype.
Exposed brick walls, vintage chairs with mod fabric on the seats, and lights galore. I'm ready to move in! Especially with their food - the coffee and cranberry and cardamom scone was to die for! It was all I had to eat all day.
After a year of wondering how the year was going to go, never having done this before - devoted myself full time to running my business - I can say this weekend made me really excited for the coming year. I've been thinking back to where I was a year ago and how much I've learned in just this one year of running my business - I'm really excited to see what 2014 will bring. It gets me thinking about my resolutions from this past year and what my goals will be for the next. Oh, the holidaze are wonderful! Here's to hoping we all share in this much joy. 'Tis the season, after all.
